Check it out! This month the campus unveils its new arts website www.arts.gatech.edu.  The site covers all areas of arts-related activity at Georgia Tech, from the development of new musical instruments to student performances, artist residencies, K-12 community interaction and so much more. It is a place where you find everything from Grand Challenges students interacting with a guest choreographer to Architecture students teaching design in an elementary school classroom.

The development of the site is the first major project by the newly formed Council of the Arts, chaired by Aaron Bobick, and the Office of the Arts, led by Director George Thompson.  The site was designed by Racel Williams, a graduate student in Human-Computer Interaction, under the direction of the Georgia Tech Communications and Marketing department, and funded by the Office of the Provost.  It features an arts calendar and information in five main areas: Education, Performance/Exhibit, Research, Student Art, and Community. Each area links to arts-related activity across campus.

“Georgia Tech is rich with creativity across campus.  The site was one of the top recommendations of a Strategic Plan task force that spent last year studying the arts at Tech, and it is a great way to tell the world about the incredible work taking place on campus year-round.  This new website organizes all that activity into one location that is easy to navigate,” says Thompson.

The Office of the Arts will now manage the content for the site, and requests colleges, departments and organizations across campus to contribute content through the Mercury content management system.  For more information please contact Jenna Farmer at jenna.farmer@arts.gatech.edu.
