HealthSouth Executive to Discuss Corporate Scandal

Primary tabs

Aaron Beam is a co-founder and former executive of HealthSouth. During his time with the company, he was involved in a major corporate accounting scandal and was eventually imprisoned for bank fraud. Now, he believes it is his obligation to share his story with others in an attempt to help them avoid making the same mistakes that he made.

Beam will speak at Georgia Tech as part of the IMPACT Speaker Series, a program that brings successful business and nonprofit leaders from a variety of industries to Georgia Tech’s campus to share their experiences. His talk, "Fifty Shades of Grey," will be held on October 3 at 4:30 pm in the Scheller College of Business.

More about the Speaker

Aaron Beam's story reads like the "Great American Success Story": start a company from zero, raise some venture capital, take the company public, become a millionaire overnight, and see the company become the darling of Wall Street. But this success story didn't end there. Instead, Beam found himself in the middle of a corporate scandal, lost almost everything, and ended up in prison. That's not the way success stories are supposed to end, but for Beam, that was the harsh reality. Read more.

About the Impact Speaker Series

Since 2002, the IMPACT Speaker Series has brought highly successful business leaders from a variety of industries to campus to share their experiences and give advice to students and other entrepreneurs on topics ranging from "building a venture around intellectual capital" to "successful entrepreneurship in large organizations" and "socially responsible leadership". The weekly series provides Georgia Tech students, alumni and the Atlanta business community an opportunity to network and learn from successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and notable business and non-profit leaders. Events for the series take place in LeCraw Auditorium in the Scheller College of Business at 4:30 pm on Wednesdays, unless otherwise noted.

The series is free and open to the public, and reservations are not required.
