Matthew Trowbridge MD, MPH, University of Virginia, School of Medicine

Topic: 

Matthew Trowbridge is a physician and public health researcher within the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Dr. Trowbridge will be speaking on his academic research, which focuses on the impact of architecture, urban design, and transportation planning on a range of public health issues including childhood obesity, traffic safety, and emergency care.

Dr. Trowbridge currently serves as a senior advisor to the National Cancer Institute within the National Institutes for Health and the National Collaborative on Childhood Obesity Research on built environment and health issues. He acted as Chair of the Built Environment & Transportation planning subcommittee for the 2012 Centers for Disease Control's Weight of the Nation international obesity prevention conference and was recently named as the 2012-2013 Ginsberg Fellow by the U.S. Green Building Council for his work to better integrate health promotion and green building. Dr. Trowbridge is board certified in both general pediatrics and preventive medicine and obtained both his medical and public health training at Emory University.
