Hungry Hungry Hackers Sponsors Inaugural Campus Challenge

Primary tabs

Building on its annual individual hacking challenges, Hungry Hungry Hackers (H3) presents the H3 Campus Challenge (H3C2), a “find the flags” event built on teamwork that engages the broader Georgia Tech Community.

While H3 is usually a one-day event, H3C2 is a weeklong event beginning Sunday, April 1, 2012. Ten wireless access points that will serve as the competition’s “flags” will be activated at 8 a.m. throughout the Georgia Tech Campus. Teams will have until noon on April 7 to locate as many flags as possible. Winners will be announced at 6 p.m. The competition is inspired in part by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Network Challenge.

The first three teams to find all 10 flags will take home nearly $2,000 in the form of “technology shopping sprees,” and each team to find three or more flags will receive H3 T-shirts.

The rules are simple: Teams, which can be made up of 10 members, will choose a name and captain, as submissions will only be accepted from the team leader. When teams find a flag, they must not harm nor prevent other teams from finding it. Finally, the entire team must be present on April 7 in order to receive any awards.

H3C2 is a free event. Teams can register and view a complete list of rules and other information at the H3 Website. Contact h3@gtri.gatech.edu with any questions.
