Undergraduate Research Spring Symposium and Awards

Primary tabs

Karen Harwell, Ph.D.
Director, Undergraduate Research

Georgia Tech will be hosting its 4th annual Undergraduate Research Spring Symposium and Awards on April 1 this year. The event is open to the Georgia Tech community and the public. We encourage you to recommend that your student (particularly freshmen and sophomores) attend the event even if they are not yet involved in research. The symposium brings together undergraduate researchers from all disciplines on campus for both poster and oral presentations. Students are able to browse the presentations, ask questions of the students working on the projects, and get a glimpse of the diversity of research on Georgia Tech's campus. Oral presentations are also offered throughout the afternoon and provide more in-depth coverage of specific topics. Prizes will be awarded to the top poster and oral presentation from each college. The event culminates in a reception and awards ceremony to celebrate undergraduate research where additional awards will also be given to the Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher from each college.

The event has become an annual celebration of undergraduate research at Georgia Tech. While the submissions window has closed for 2009, undergraduate researchers at all levels are encouraged to present their work at future events. This is a great opportunity for your student to share his/her research with other students and faculty from all over campus and gain valuable skills and experience in presenting their research work to a diverse audience. Employers are always looking for students who exhibit excellent communication skills.

The spring symposium is made possible through sponsorship from the Georgia Tech Foundation and the Georgia Tech Research Corporation. For additional information on the event, including the preliminary program, visit the Spring Symposium Web site.
