Parking and Transportation: Personalized to Fit Your Student's Needs

Office of Parking and Transportation

When it comes to campus parking and transportation, most people think there are only a few options. At Georgia Tech, we offer several choices to meet our students’ changing needs. From students who visit campus daily to only a few times each week, the Department of Parking and Transportation has something for everyone.

Campus Parking
If your student wishes to park on campus, they should consider purchasing a parking permit for their cars, motorcycles or mopeds. By purchasing a permit, students may park in their assigned lots at any time (except for special events). To guarantee a parking space in a desired lot, students are encouraged to participate in our annual online registration period from mid March to late May. Visit our offices at 828 W. Peachtree St. (Tech Square) to register. All parking permits are paid from student Bursar accounts.

Campus Transit
Need help navigating campus? Georgia Tech offers a network of campus transit services that provide safe and effective transportation on campus. The Tech Trolley serves the campus and provides service to the Midtown MARTA rail station. The Stinger Red, Blue and Green routes provide bus service to various stops on campus. All vehicles are lift-equipped and are of no charge for all users. Your student can also find arrival times for each bus at www.nextbus.com.

Carpools and Vanpools
Off-campus students living more than three miles from campus can commute via carpools and vanpools to Georgia Tech’s campus with friends or classmates. Carpool captains will receive a discounted rate on their parking permit purchase. Once your student becomes a captain, he/she can click here to invite other students into the carpool. Each carpool member is eligible for a FREE one-day parking pass each month. For an added benefit, log your commute daily at www.logyourcommute.com/gatech to earn rewards for carpooling.

SmartPark
If your student plans to park on campus fewer than three times each week, SmartPark is the ideal solution. This pay-as-you-go program costs $25 to join each year. As your student needs to drive to campus, SmartPark allows parking in one of three campus lots - Technology Square Parking Deck (E81), Visitor Parking Area 3, and North Deck (W23)- from 5:30 a.m. to midnight daily. The daily rate is $5 per use and is automatically debited from your student’s BuzzCard account.

Zipcar
This car-sharing program provides members with vehicles on an hourly or daily basis. With cars conveniently located around campus, your student can readily rent a car for personal use. Gas, maintenance, insurance and campus parking are included in rental fees. Zipcar is open to students ages 18 and over and who meet membership requirements. For more information, visit www.zipcar.com.

MARTA
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) offers bus, rail and paratransit services for Fulton and DeKalb counties. It also provides direct service to the Hartfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Campus is served by the Midtown and North Avenue rail stations; the Tech Trolley shuttles students from campus directly to the Midtown station. Students can purchase discounted MARTA passes (U-Pass) for unlimited rides at the Ferst Center Box Office. Visit www.itsmarta.com for more information.
