<p>High Resolution Coherent 2D Spectroscopy of Atmospheric Molecules
</p>
<p>Coherent 2D spectroscopy has recently gained attention as a possible optical analogue to 2D NMR spectroscopy. This talk will include an introduction to a new high resolution form of coherent 2D spectroscopy that is suitable for studying complex electronic spectra of gas phase molecules. Such spectra often contain large numbers (thousand to millions) of congested peaks that can be complicated by the presence of multiple species (e.g., isotopomers) and strongly perturbing phenomena (e.g., conical intersections). High resolution coherent 2D spectroscopy appears to be an effective tool for dealing with such problems. Coherent 2D spectra from important but challenging atmospheric molecules (e.g., NO2) will be shown and methods for unraveling highly congested spectra will be discussed.
