The nuclear energy debate has always been a heated one. Join our panel of Georgia Tech experts as they discuss the future of nuclear energy in a post-Fukushima world from both the technical and policy aspects.
The nuclear energy panel will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 in the Library's Neely Room. The panel will feature:
Daniel Tedder - Associate Professor Emeritus, School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering; Adjunct Professor, School of Mechanical Engineering
Cal Abel - Ph.D. student in Nuclear and Radiological Engineering at the Georgia Tech; also pursuing a graduate certificate in Public Policy
Tim Cahill - Ph.D. student in Nuclear Engineering at Georgia Tech
Panelists will explore a range of quesions concerning the future of nuclear energy, such as: What are the positive and negative environmental effects of nuclear energy when compared to other energy sources? How safe is it? The disastrous events in the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan following an earthquake and tsunami have heightened concern over the safety of nuclear energy.
