  <title><![CDATA[CEO and Social Innovator Andrew Wolk Speaks at IMPACT]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>On <strong>Wednesday,</strong> <strong>November 9, </strong>the fall IMPACT Speaker Series continues with a talk by
<a href="http://www.ile.gatech.edu/files/Fall_2011/Andrew_Wolk.pdf">Andrew Wolk</a>. Mr. Wolk is the <strong>founder and
CEO of Root Cause</strong>, an organization dedicated to promoting social innovation
and investments in solutions to social issues. Mr. Wolk will speak to students, faculty, staff and community members about <strong>"The Social Impact Market: Why a Market for Social Innovation is Needed Now More than Ever."</strong></p>

<p>After the talk, those who are
interested in creating positive social change through innovative ideas are
invited to attend the <strong>Ideas to Serve
2012 Competition Kick-Off</strong>.</p>

I2S Kick-Off Event, beginning at <strong>5:30pm
in the College of Management Atrium</strong>, will feature posters and videos of
previous years’ entries to inspire ideas, information and sign-up booths for
potential participants, <strong><em>a raffle with prizes</em></strong>, and <strong><em>free
food</em></strong>!</p>

<p>Widely recognized as a leading
social innovator and a pioneering teacher of social entrepreneurship, Andrew
Wolk founded Root Cause in 2004. Today, he continues to lead its overall
strategic direction, having consulted with dozens of nonprofit organizations in
their quest to achieve enduring social impact.</p>



<p>Andrew designed and taught one of
the first courses on social entrepreneurship in the country. He is a senior
lecturer in social entrepreneurship at MIT and is a Gleitsman Visiting
Practitioner at Harvard Kennedy School, where he is currently teaching a course
on new public leadership and the role of government. </p>



<p>He has served on the board of
Social Enterprise Alliance and the advisory board of the Social Capitalist
Awards, and helped establish the Boston chapter of Social Venture Partners.

<p><em>About
the Impact Speaker Series</em></p>

<p>Since 2002, the IMPACT Speaker Series has brought highly successful business
leaders from a variety of industries to campus to share their experiences and
give advice to students and other entrepreneurs on topics ranging from
"building a venture around intellectual capital" to "successful
entrepreneurship in large organizations" and "socially responsible
leadership". </p>

<p>The weekly series provides Georgia Tech students, alumni and the Atlanta
business community an opportunity to network and learn from successful
entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and notable business and non-profit
leaders. Events for the series take place in the LeCraw Auditorium in the
College of Management building at 4:30 pm on Wednesdays unless otherwise noted.
