If You See Something, Say Something

Where were you on
9/11? It’s one of those lifetime events that will remained etched
in our memories forever. One thing is for sure, 9/11 changed the way
Americans viewed terrorism and security in the United States. In the
weeks and months following that day many things changed, including
the general public’s awareness of activities going on around them -
in their workplaces, schools and neighborhoods. As we approach the
10th year since the 9/11 attacks it is important to remember that the
threat of terrorism still exists, the campus community should not
become complacent.

People will often ask, “What can I do
to help?” The answer is simple. If you “See Something, Say
Something.” In other words, if something or someone doesn’t look
like they fit into a particular environment or setting, they probably
don’t.

Here is your opportunity to be part of
the solution:

Report abandoned vehicles to the
	police department.

Watch for people and actions that
	are out of place.

Make note of suspicious
	statements, people, and/or vehicles.

If something seems wrong, notify
	the police.

Take time during National Preparedness
Month to prepare yourself and your family for disasters and
emergencies, whether the threats fall into the terrorism or natural
hazard categories, such as severe weather.
