Seating is limited\u2014tickets may be purchased at the \nWoodruff Arts Center Box Office at 404.733.5000 or online.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nMa\u00e1 is an original interpretation of the \nrenowned Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho\u2019s music composition of the same\n name, which translates to \u201cearth.\u201d Saariaho\u2019s work blends the use of \nelectronics and traditional instruments and is marked by its emphasis on\n timbre; Ma\u00e1 is widely considered to be among her most important compositions.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u201cWe are excited to share this exhilarating work with Atlanta audiences,\u201d\n said Jason Freeman, assistant professor in the Georgia Tech School of \nMusic and executive director of Sonic Generator. \u201cGeorgia Tech is an \ninternational leader in arts and technology research, and this \nproduction demonstrates our commitment to bringing the unique expertise \nof our faculty and students to the concert stage to present compelling \nperformances in collaboration with the most talented artists in the \ncity.\u201d\u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\nNow in its sixth year, Sonic Generator uses technology to transform the \nways in which we compose, perform and listen to music. The group is \nsponsored by Georgia Tech\u2019s GVU Center, College of Architecture,\n and School of Music, bringing the best professional classical musicians\n from around Atlanta to campus to collaborate with students and faculty \nand incorporate new research into live performance. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\n\u003Cbr \/\u003E\ngloATL Dancemaker Lauri Stallings will choreograph and stage the work \nfor seven principal dancers, the musicians and Spano, who will conduct \nthe entire Ma\u00e1 environment.
