The appointment recognizes Vempala\u2019s sustained contributions to his field, students, and the broader research and education communities.\u202f\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EVempala began working at Georgia Tech in 2006. In addition to his role in SCS, Vempala is an adjunct professor in Georgia Tech\u2019s School of Mathematics and the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EVempala has served as director of the Algorithms, Combinatorics and Optimization (ACO) program since 2022.
