Georgia Tech Arts Supports Student Innovation at National a2ru Summit

Georgia Tech Arts sponsored four students—Sujana Vangala, Misha Bhardwaj, Gauri Menon, and Grace Barkhuff—to attend the a2ru Emerging Creatives Summit, held at Michigan State University in early March. The students were selected through a competitive process to join 72 participants from 20 universities.

The summit, organized by the Alliance for the Arts in Research Universities (a2ru), focused on the theme of “rewilding,” encouraging students to explore art as a restorative and experimental medium. Participants collaborated in groups to create projects that reflected their interpretation of the theme, producing a wide range of work including installations, performances, and multimedia pieces.

One highlighted project was CANV(US), an installation by Gauri Menon and her team that transformed motion into interactive audio-visual output. Students emphasized the value of working across disciplines and learning from peers with diverse creative backgrounds.

Georgia Tech’s participation aligns with its broader mission to integrate arts and technology in education. As a member of a2ru, the university continues to support opportunities that foster innovation, collaboration, and professional growth for its students.
