"Quantitative Molecular MR Imaging with Adiabatic Pulses"

A method to quantify iron oxide nanoparticles using adiabatic preparation pulses is presented. This contrast mechanism is sensitive to the microscopic magnetic field gradients surrounding the nanoparticles.

"Microfluidic Hydrogels for Articular Cartilage Tissue Engineering"

Cartilage tissue engineering is a promising approach that aims to repair damaged articular joints. Unfortunately, the fabrication of large tissue constructs is limited by insufficient transport to the interior of the tissue construct resulting in poor tissue growth. To overcome this challenge, we propose a hydrogel culture system which provides nutrient and waste exchange within the developing tissue through an embedded microfluidic network.

The Graduate and Post-Doc (GaP) Seminar Series is a weekly event of research presentations by two graduate students or post-docs conducting bio-related research.  The series is organized and sponsored by the Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience (IBB) with additional support from the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering. It is held every Wednesday at 12:00pm in IBB 1128 and refreshments are provided. If your research group or department would like to present at future seminars, please contact Manu Platt, PhD at manu.platt@bme.gatech.edu.
