Peña: Human Capital for Humans – An Accessible Introduction to the Economic Science of People]]> The School of Economics at Georgia Tech welcomes economist Pablo A. Peña for a talk about his book Human Capital for Humans: An Accessible Introduction to the Economic Science of People. The event will take place in the Scholars Event Theater in Price Gilbert Memorial Library.

During the talk, Peña will introduce the concept of human capital theory, which examines how investments in education, skills, and knowledge influence economic outcomes. Drawing on ideas developed by Nobel laureate Gary Becker, the discussion connects economic principles to everyday life, including decisions related to parenting, aging, marriage, health, and household labor.

Peña’s work focuses on applied price theory, human capital theory, and empirical economics. In addition to teaching at the University of Chicago, he co-founded the consulting firm Microanalitica and previously served as chief economist for Mexico’s National Banking and Securities Commission. The book has also received endorsements from economists and scholars, including Steven Levitt, Angela Duckworth, Michael Kremer, and former Mexican president Ernesto Zedillo.
