  <body><![CDATA[<p><strong>Join us for a full-day, hands-on introduction to amateur radio!</strong> Spend the morning at the <strong>Hive Makerspace </strong>learning from experienced operators and Georgia Tech experts about radio communications, electronics, and operating on the air. In the afternoon, you’ll sit for the <strong>FCC Technician License exam</strong> and walk out with your own callsign.</p><p><em>No prior experience needed.</em> Amateur radio is a valuable life skill, opens doors in STEM and emergency communications, and looks great on a resume. Whether you’re into satellites, emergency response, digital modes, off-the-grid comms, or just building cool electronics, ham radio gives you the skills and credentials to take your projects further.</p><p><strong>💡 Event Cost:</strong> FREE! Food may be provided, pending availability.<br>📡&nbsp;<strong>License Cost:</strong>&nbsp;Free for Georgia Tech students. Sponsored by W5YI Licensing Services Inc.</p><p>The entry-level <strong>Technician license</strong> gives you access to VHF and UHF bands (perfect for handheld and mobile radios), nationwide repeater networks, digital modes, and even limited HF privileges so you can start making long-distance contacts.
