The School of Psychology Research Day will provide a snapshot of some of the recent research in the department. We have a lineup of 10 faculty members who will tell us about their latest projects. The event is meant to be very interactive: each person will have a 15-minute slot and the last 5 minutes will be reserved for Q&A. This event will help the audience get a better sense of the research being conducted in our school and facilitate new bridges and collaborations.

Schedule

1:00-1:05pm: Opening Remarks (Doby Rahnev)

Session 1: Cognition and Behavior

1:05-1:20pm: Randall Engle
Two levels of analysis for attention control

1:20-1:35pm: Chris Wiese
The Long and Winding Road: Commuting and Work Behaviors

1:35-1:50pm: Paul Verhaeghen
Free your mind and Mental Health and Wellbeing will Follow

1:50-2:00pm: BREAK

Session 2: Computation and Cognition

2:00-2:15pm: Hsiao-Wen Liao
Natural Language Processing Approaches to Autobiographical Memory

2:15-2:30pm: Mark Himmelstein
Forecasting Proficiency: Measurement, Practice, and Theory

2:30-2:45pm: Mengyao Li
Trust and Cooperation in Multi-Human Multi-Agent Teams

2:45-3:00pm: BREAK

Session 3: Brain Science

3:00-3:15pm: Apurva Ratan Murty
Modeling the human visual system (and beyond)

3:15-3:30pm: Anna Ivanova
Dissociating language and thought

3:30-3:45pm: Tansu Celikel
From Brains to Robots: Towards Neuromorphic Intelligence

3:45-4:00pm: Tammy Tran
Utilizing immersive virtual reality to investigate memory

4:00-5:00pm: RECEPTION
