{"685146":{"#nid":"685146","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Bakir Named Inaugural GlobalFoundries Termed Chair","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ece.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ESchool of Electrical and Computer Engineering\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E (ECE) Professor \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ece.gatech.edu\/directory\/muhannad-s-bakir\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EMuhannad Bakir\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E has been named the inaugural GlobalFoundries Termed Chair in Packaging and 3D Heterogeneous Integration.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe position was \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ece.gatech.edu\/globalfoundrieschair\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003Eestablished in the spring of 2025\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E to be awarded to a distinguished ECE faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in research and teaching in the areas of chiplet-based integrated circuit (IC) systems, 2.5D, and 3D IC technologies.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cI am grateful to GlobalFoundries for establishing this chair position in ECE, and honored to be the inaugural recipient,\u201d Bakir said. \u201cAdvanced packaging and heterogeneous integration are a key differentiator and driver of innovation in virtually all leading-edge electronic systems from handheld devices to data centers powering AI.
