Our panel of AI experts, academic faculty, and research scientists -- including Dr. Mark Riedl, Ashok K. Goel, Anya Ivanova and Tyler Cook -- will discuss the applications of AI tools to enhance research efficiency and quality.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ETopics will include how AI technologies can augment researchers\u2019 capabilities in experimental design, data processing, data analysis, and more. This session will equip attendees with knowledge and inspiration for advancing their future research.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EABOUT THE PANELISTS\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EDr. Mark Riedl is a Professor in the Georgia Tech School of Interactive Computing and Associate Director of the Georgia Tech Machine Learning Center. Dr. Riedl\u2019s research focuses on human-centered artificial intelligence\u2014the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies that understand and interact with human users in more natural ways. Dr. Riedl\u2019s recent work has focused on story understanding and generation, computational creativity, explainable AI, and teaching virtual agents to behave safely.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAshok K. Goel is a Professor of Computer Science and Human-Centered Computing in the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology and the Chief Scientist with Georgia Tech\u2019s Center for 21st Century Universities. He is also the PI and Executive Director of the National Institute for Adult Learning and Online Education (aialoe.org) sponsored by NSF and headquartered at Georgia Tech.\u0026nbsp; He is a Fellow of AAAI and the Cognitive Science Society, a recipient of AAAI\u2019s Outstanding AI Educator Award, AAAI\u0027s Distinguished Service Award, IBM\u0027s Faculty Award, and University System of Georgia\u0027s Board of Regent\u0027s Award for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. He is also an Editor-Emeritus of AAAI\u0027s AI Magazine.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAnna (Anya) Ivanova is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Georgia Institute of Technology, where she heads the Language, Intelligence, and Thought (LIT) lab. She got her PhD from MIT\u2019s Department of Brain and Cognitive Science and carried out her postdoctoral training at MIT Quest for Intelligence. In her research, Anya is examining the language-thought relationship in humans and in large language models using a synergistic combination of human brain imaging, behavioral studies, and computational modeling. She has been named one of the 35 Innovators under 35 by MIT Tech Review 2024.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;Tyler Cook is the assistant program director of the Center for AI Learning at Emory University and a research affiliate in the Carter School of Public Policy at Georgia Tech. He obtained his PhD from the Department of Philosophy at The\u003Cstrong\u003E \u003C\/strong\u003EOhio State University, where he wrote a dissertation on various topics in AI ethics. He has taught many different courses, including ones on AI ethics and policy, engineering ethics, and contemporary social and moral problems in the US.
