Georgia Tech has launched a national search for its next associate vice president (AVP) for the Office of Real Estate Development. This key leadership position plays an essential role in supporting the Institute’s academic and research mission and is a vital partner in the planning and implementation of Georgia Tech’s strategic real estate priorities including existing and emerging innovation districts. Tony Zivalich, who served as the inaugural AVP for the Office of Real Estate Development, will continue to serve as senior advisor for Real Estate until his planned retirement later this year.
“This leadership role for Real Estate Development supports the Institute’s contributions to economic development, innovation, and commercialization,” said Tricia Chastain, executive vice president for Administration and Finance. “We are grateful to Tony for his vision and leadership which have helped set the stage for Tech’s future growth.”
Zivalich began working with Georgia Tech in 1998, and, since then, he has provided the leadership for and oversight of multiple high-profile real estate developments that have advanced the Institute’s mission and strategic plan. These innovative projects include Technology Square, The CODA Building and High Performance Computing Center, The Interlock in West Midtown, Cobb County Research Campuses for the Georgia Tech Research Institute, and the rapidly expanding Science Square district.
Adrian McCord will continue to serve as interim AVP for the Office of Real Estate Development until a successor is announced. A search committee is in place, with Jennifer Bentson, interim deputy chief business officer, serving as chair.
