{"682576":{"#nid":"682576","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Leslie Sharp Reappointed as Dean of Libraries at Georgia Tech","body":[{"value":"\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EFollowing a comprehensive administrative review, \u003Cstrong\u003ELeslie Sharp\u003C\/strong\u003E has been reappointed to a second five-year term as dean of Libraries at Georgia Tech, effective July 1, 2025.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThis decision follows a review process outlined in the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/policylibrary.gatech.edu\/faculty_handbook\u0022 rel=\u0022noreferrer noopener\u0022 target=\u0022_blank\u0022\u003EGeorgia Tech Faculty Handbook\u003C\/a\u003E, which includes feedback from faculty, staff, students, and external library colleagues and an evaluation of Sharp\u2019s performance and accomplishments during her term.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESharp, who has served as dean of Libraries since July 1, 2020, has played a pivotal role in advancing Georgia Tech\u2019s mission of supporting research, teaching, and learning across the Institute. Under her leadership, the Library has leveraged partnerships and resources to expand its collections. In one of its most effective initiatives, the Library partnered with units to make more affordable learning resources available for students. Sharp\u2019s leadership has guided the Library\u2019s focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and expanded services, \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/library.gatech.edu\/about\/impactreport\u0022\u003Esaving students, faculty, and staff more than $2.12 million in 2024\u003C\/a\u003E through course reserves, interlibrary loan, Gadgets equipment lending, locker rentals, and room reservations. Her work has ensured that the Library is one of the most desirable places on campus to study, work, and collaborate.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cLeslie Sharp\u2019s vision and dedication have strengthened the Georgia Tech Library\u2019s role as a central hub for knowledge, innovation, and academic support for our entire community,\u201d said \u003Cstrong\u003EKarie Davis-Nozemack\u003C\/strong\u003E, associate provost and incoming interim provost. \u201cShe brings a deep spirit of collaboration to her leadership, because she believes that the Library should serve and inspire every member of the Georgia Tech community \u2014 students, faculty, and staff alike. I am delighted that the Institute will continue to benefit from her impact for another term.\u201d\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EPrior to her appointment as dean, Sharp served in dual roles as interim chief executive officer for the Library and associate vice provost for Graduate Education and Faculty Development. In these roles, she oversaw operations across the organization, expanded support for graduate and postdoctoral students, and implemented faculty development practices.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESharp also teaches historic preservation in the College of Design, where she previously served as assistant dean of Academic Affairs and Outreach. She holds a Ph.D. in the history and sociology of technology and science and a master\u2019s in the history of technology from Georgia Tech, a master\u2019s from Middle Tennessee State University, and a bachelor\u2019s from the University of Georgia.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cI am honored to serve another term as dean of the Georgia Tech Library.
