Self-excited vibrations are inevitable in the drilling process.&nbsp;A drillstring is a very flexible structure subjected to dynamic loading and boundary conditions such as nonlinear interactions between bit and rock or drillstring and wellbore wall. Torsional vibrations, specifically stick-slip, cause damage and failure of drilling equipment. Stick-slip also exacerbates axial and lateral vibrations. Thus, it remains a pertinent task to develop tools that can reduce and avoid damaging vibrations.
