{"682017":{"#nid":"682017","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Librarians receive promotions","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe Georgia Tech Library is proud to announce three of its faculty members will receive promotions July 1.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EHead of Academic Engagement Liz Holdsworth and Assessment Librarian Matt Frizzell both will move from Librarian II classifications to Librarian III. Emerging Technologies Librarian Alison Valk will be promoted to Librarian IV, the highest classification available.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cWe\u2019re extremely proud of our incredible faculty here at the Georgia Tech Library,\u201d said Dean Leslie Sharp. \u201cThrough their hard work, dedication and commitment to scholarship, these longtime librarians exemplify the best of what this institution brings to students, faculty and staff daily.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EValk has been emerging technologies librarian since 2010. In 2016, she championed the creation of Library\u0027s Media Scholarship Commons and developed the curriculum for the Library\u0027s multimedia program, integrating numerous educational resources including tools for video\/audio editing and graphic design supporting technical communication skills. Valk now leads research initiatives focused on the use of virtual reality and emerging technologies in libraries.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EHoldsworth, who has been with the Library since 2016, provides\u0026nbsp;leadership for all aspects of instruction-related policies, procedures, and practices that support student learning and assesses programs in relation to student success. They engage as a thought-leader with faculty and colleagues in developing and enhancing strategies for an inclusive library culture.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EFrizzell has been at Georgia Tech since 2006. He provides assessment leadership and support for pilot projects, services, and spaces to facilitate evidence-based decision making.
