She also manages research computing and data, while contributing to policies related to research administration and operations. \u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EWalton is a professor and the\u0026nbsp;Robert \u0022Bud\u0022 Moeller Faculty Fellow in the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.chbe.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ESchool of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E, where she\u2019s served on the faculty since 2009.\u0026nbsp;\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003E\u201cGeorgia Tech has helped make me the scholar, researcher, and leader that I am today,\u201d said Walton, who previously served as the College of Engineering\u2019s associate dean for research and innovation. \u201cAs I prepare to take on this exciting new role at NC State, I will always be grateful for the mentorship and opportunities for growth that I received during my 16 wonderful years here.\u201d\u003Cbr\u003E\u003Cbr\u003EWalton\u2019s research focuses on the design, synthesis, and characterization of functional porous materials for use in adsorption applications, including carbon dioxide capture and atmospheric water harvesting.\u0026nbsp;She has co-founded three spin-off companies from her research over the past decade and currently serves as an associate editor for AIChE Journal.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/div\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EWalton was the founding director and lead principal investigator (PI) on Georgia Tech\u2019s first Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Frontier Research Center in 2014. That center, named \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.efrc.chbe.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EUNCAGE-ME\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E, advances the understanding of how porous and electrochemical materials used for hydrogen production and carbon dioxide capture and conversion evolve and degrade when exposed to emerging contaminants.
