When a call is received, dispatchers can send an invitation to the caller, allowing them to share their live video feed and precise location. This feature is entirely permission-based \u2014 a caller must actively opt in, and the system does not track the caller\u2019s location beyond the active emergency call.\u202f\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0022The safety and security of our campus community is our top priority,\u0022 says GTPD Chief Robert Connolly. \u0022This new technology enhances location accuracy and reduces response time, ensuring that our first responders can act quickly and efficiently.\u0022\u202f\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Ch5\u003EFuture Enhancements: A Smarter, Faster System\u202f\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/h5\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThis milestone is just the beginning of GTPD\u2019s commitment to technological innovation. Future upgrades to the \u003Cstrong\u003E911 Emergency Communications Center\u003C\/strong\u003E, scheduled for late April, will include the following enhancements.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EA\u003Cstrong\u003E campus perimeter geofence\u003C\/strong\u003E that will ensure any emergency call made on the Georgia Tech campus is automatically routed to GTPD\u2019s 911 center, eliminating delays caused by call transfers. Currently, 911 emergency calls placed on campus from cellphones are often rerouted through the City of Atlanta\u0027s 911 call center, leading to response time delays. With this direct communication channel, GTPD can provide immediate assistance, streamlining emergency response efforts.\u202f\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EA new \u003Cstrong\u003Etwo-way translation\u003C\/strong\u003E technology that will enable the call-taker to communicate verbally with non-English-speaking callers in their native language. Currently, non-English-speaking callers are assisted through a language line.
