We use a simple hydrodynamical picture for operator spreading to relate this rate to properties of the unitary dynamics. The\u0026nbsp;hydrodynamical picture also allows us to argue that this rate is encoded in the leading eigenvalue of a dynamical map obtained by enriching the unitary dynamics with weak dissipation, if we take the thermodynamic limit before taking the dissipation rate to zero. Curiously, this order of limits does not recover unitary dynamics, and has been studied under the name \u0022anomalous relaxation.\u0022\u003C\/p\u003E","format":"limited_html"}],"field_summary_sentence":[{"value":"CMO \/ AMO Seminar - Thermalization rates and anomalous relaxation from operator hydrodynamics - Speaker Dr. Carolyn Zhang form Harvard University"}],"uid":"36625","created_gmt":"2025-01-16 14:20:41","changed_gmt":"2025-01-21 16:00:52","author":"crichardson76","boilerplate_text":"","field_publication":"","field_article_url":"","field_event_time":{"event_time_start":"2025-01-29T11:00:00-05:00","event_time_end":"2025-01-29T12:00:00-05:00","event_time_end_last":"2025-01-29T12:00:00-05:00","gmt_time_start":"2025-01-29 16:00:00","gmt_time_end":"2025-01-29 17:00:00","gmt_time_end_last":"2025-01-29 17:00:00","rrule":null,"timezone":"America\/New_York"},"location":"Howey N-202","extras":[],"hg_media":{"676045":{"id":"676045","type":"image","title":"Carolyn Zhang","body":null,"created":"1737039495","gmt_created":"2025-01-16 14:58:15","changed":"1737039495","gmt_changed":"2025-01-16 14:58:15","alt":"Harvard university","file":{"fid":"259749","name":"Carolyn Zhang.jpg","image_path":"\/sites\/default\/files\/2025\/01\/16\/Carolyn%20Zhang_0.jpg","image_full_path":"http:\/\/hg.gatech.edu\/\/sites\/default\/files\/2025\/01\/16\/Carolyn%20Zhang_0.jpg","mime":"image\/jpeg","size":1203234,"path_740":"http:\/\/hg.gatech.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/740xx_scale\/public\/2025\/01\/16\/Carolyn%20Zhang_0.jpg?itok=7LWKhsMw"}}},"media_ids":["676045"],"groups":[{"id":"126011","name":"School of Physics"}],"categories":[],"keywords":[{"id":"166937","name":"School of Physics"}],"core_research_areas":[],"news_room_topics":[],"event_categories":[{"id":"1795","name":"Seminar\/Lecture\/Colloquium"}],"invited_audience":[{"id":"78761","name":"Faculty\/Staff"},{"id":"177814","name":"Postdoc"},{"id":"174045","name":"Graduate students"}],"affiliations":[],"classification":[],"areas_of_expertise":[],"news_and_recent_appearances":[],"phone":[],"contact":[],"email":[],"slides":[],"orientation":[],"userdata":""}}}
