<value>
The objective of the proposed research is to simplify the base station to enable ultra dense 5G networks, through the design of an optimized dual-band/wideband, simple and compact Rotman lens antenna array system implemented with optical-mmWave convergence.By substantially decreasing the complexity of the base station, the deployment of a densely packed wireless network becomes considerably more practical and economically reasonable. Bandwidth challenges in the mmWave domain are overcome in the optical domain as a wide bandwidth at this lower frequency range translates to a narrow bandwidth in the \SI{}{THz} range. Consequently, the computationally heavy, power hungry, bulky systems (e.g. signal processing, modulation, and filtering) currently executed in the mm-Wave domain can be streamlined by shifting their execution to the optical domain. Transitioning processes to the optical domain also permits the relocation of several components from the base station to a central hub. Information can then be transmitted to the base station via the low-loss fiber networks to individual base stations, paving the way for remote (or AI) control capabilities provided the system's full characteristics are comprehensively understood. Given the relentless demand for higher capacity and speed, a variety of innovative technologies have emerged, which this system can take advantage of to facilitate this simplification.
</value>
