Current guidelines recommend keeping hemoglobin (Hb) levels below 10 g\/dL to prevent hyperviscosity, but this approach inadequately addresses SCD\u2019s diverse complications, such as vaso-occlusive crises and stroke. This proposal seeks to provide data to help refine these guidelines by investigating SCD\u0027s blood viscosity dynamics using a 3D microvascular-on-a-chip model. This research aims to improve clinical outcomes by better understanding blood viscosity dynamics in SCD.
