Its mission to ensure that students in need have access to food is amplified during the holiday season. \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe kitchen\u0027s primary location operates in the Biotech Quad, offering 24\/7 access and relying on donations from local organizations, food drives organized by Institute departments, and the Campus Kitchen Project recovering leftover food from campus dining halls. \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESteve Fazenbaker, director of Students\u2019 Temporary Assistance and Resources (STAR) Services, says the approaching holiday season highlights the issue of food insecurity for college students and the willingness of the campus community to offer a helping hand.\u0026nbsp;\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u0022There\u0027s a real desire to help during this time of year, and our pantry is stocked as well as it has been for the semester. Our motto is \u2018progress and service,\u2019 and this is a great way to serve and take care of one another. STAR and Klemis Kitchen exemplify the compassion that exists at Georgia Tech,\u0022 he said. \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003ETwenty campus departments launched food drives this fall, and several are ongoing, including in high-traffic areas like the Campus Recreation Center and the John Lewis Student Center. Shelf-stable foods like canned vegetables, breakfast cereals, peanut butter, and pasta are consistently needed to stock the pantry. \u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cp\u003EKlemis Kitchen will remain stocked and operational through holiday campus closures.
