{"677943":{"#nid":"677943","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Tech Library faculty awarded at state conference","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca\u003EThe Georgia Tech Library is proud to announce Engagement and Inclusion Librarian Karen Manning and Head of Archives and Special Collections Jody Thompson were both recognized at the Georgia Library Association (GLA) Conference in mid-October for their contributions to libraries.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EManning received GLA\u2019s Bob Richardson Memorial Award, which recognizes significant contributions to the Association through unselfish, dedicated service to the organization.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThompson received the Society of Georgia Archivists (SGA) Fellows Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to archives and archivists in the state.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u201cThese awards make clear what we\u2019ve known for some time, that Karen and Jody are top-tier professionals who give their time and energy every day to ensuring our students, faculty, staff and community are well-served by the Georgia Tech Library,\u201d said Dean Leslie Sharp. \u201cI cannot think of two more deserving individuals.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EManning, who counts decades of service to the Library, serves as the Library\u2019s Campus Diversity Liaison, working within a network of peer positions across the University and colleagues for strategic planning of engagement and inclusion initiatives, programs, and practices.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThompson, who also serves as head of the Records Management \u0026amp; Digital Curation department and the Library\u2019s Preservation Manager, promotes research and instruction through archival collections relating to the academic curriculum.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe Bob Richardson Memorial Award was established by the Executive Board of GLA in 1999 in recognition of Bob Richardson\u2019s dedicated service to the Association. It honors those who have given outstanding service to the Association.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe SGA Fellows Award was established in 2009.
