  <title><![CDATA[Sheila Isbell Named Finalist for Women in Technology's 'Woman of the Year' Award]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Congratulations to GTRI's own Sheila Isbell on achieving a significant industry honor!</p><p>Sheila has been named a 2024 Finalist for <a href="https://mywit.org/">Women in Technology’s (WIT)</a> “Woman of the Year – Medium/Mid-Sized” Award.</p><p>WIT will announce the winners of its' 2024 Women of the Year Awards in S.T.E.A.M at their annual gala, to be held at the Georgia Aquarium Oct. 24.</p><p>Sheila is Principal Research Scientist, Chief of the Software Engineering and Analytics Division within ICL. Since joining GTRI in 2004, Sheila has progressed through several roles. Sheila also is very active with various GTRI Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), including being Executive Sponsor of the IDENTIFY@GTRI ERG.</p><p>Sheila spoke of the nomination process, which consisted of interviews with WIT judges:<br>"I was asked questions I’d never been asked before, met incredible women from diverse career paths, and felt celebrated regardless of the outcome. I’m deeply grateful for the nomination, for being selected, and for the meaningful recognition of both my technical contributions and my work within the tech community." &nbsp;</p><p>Women in Technology (WIT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the underrepresentation and challenges women and girls face in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math). WIT empowers women and girls to excel from the classroom to the boardroom by providing education, exposure, and experience. WIT's programs are designed to ensure a diverse tech talent pipeline, challenge stereotypes, and bring about significant change in the industry. &nbsp;</p>]]></body>
