{"676006":{"#nid":"676006","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Saeedifard Wins Pair of IEEE Awards","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EGeorgia Tech \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ece.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ESchool of Electrical and Computer Engineering\u003C\/a\u003E Professor \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ece.gatech.edu\/directory\/maryam-saeedifard\u0022\u003EMaryam Saeedifard\u003C\/a\u003E received two prestigious awards from the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.ieee.org\/\u0022\u003EInstitute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers\u003C\/a\u003E (IEEE) this summer.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe first award was the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.ieee-pels.org\/awards\/modeling-and-control-technical-achievement-award\/#:~:text=The%20IEEE%20Modeling%20and%20Control,electronics%20in%20modeling%20and%20control.\u0022\u003EIEEE Modeling and Control Technical Achievement Award\u003C\/a\u003E for her contributions to modeling and control of multilevel converters for medium- and high-power energy conversion systems.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe award honors innovators and researchers who have made outstanding and sustained technical contributions to the advancement of power electronics in modeling and control. She will be presented with the award at the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.ieee-ecce.org\/2024\/\u0022\u003EIEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition\u003C\/a\u003E this October in Phoenix.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESaeedifard also won the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.ieee-ies.org\/about\/awards\/awards-info\/191-dr-bimal-bose-energy-systems-award\u0022\u003EIEEE Bimal Bose Award for Industrial Electronics Applications in Energy Systems\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EShe received the honor for \u0026nbsp;her work on renewable energy integration and transmission, as well as protection and stability analysis of multi-terminal HVDC grids.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe award recognizes a young researcher who has made significant contributions to the advancement of energy systems through industrial electronics applications. The award will be presented to her at the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.ieee-ies.org\/conferences\u0022\u003EIEEE Industrial Electronics Conference\u003C\/a\u003E this November in Chicago, where she is also one of the plenary speakers.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESaeedifard joined ECE as an assistant professor in spring 2014, specializing in power electronics and modular energy conversion systems for both terrestrial and mobile power systems.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EHer research has garnered numerous national and international awards, including several prize paper awards for her impactful IEEE Transactions publications, as well as being recognized as an \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ece.gatech.edu\/news\/2023\/12\/six-georgia-tech-faculty-named-ieee-fellows\u0022\u003EIEEE Fellow by the Power Electronics Society in 2022\u003C\/a\u003E.
