Paulo Boa Sorte is an associate professor of TESOL and Education at the Federal University of Sergipe, Brazil. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Michigan (2017) and University of Miami (2019-2020).

Key topics include the experience of attending a public university, where education is free of charge. The speaker will discuss the structure of undergraduate and graduate studies, highlighting their differences and nuances. Additionally, students benefit from affordable dining options, paying the equivalent of $0.30 USD per meal in university dining halls. The lecture will also cover affirmative action policies for both public and private universities, as well as financial aid programs designed to support low-income students. Finally, the talk will discuss programs that allow recent American graduates to work in Brazil for one year, fostering international exchange and collaboration.
