{"674796":{"#nid":"674796","#data":{"type":"event","title":"Virtual Artists Talk: Ugandan and Indonesian Bark Paper","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EJoin us online for a talk about the paper museum\u0027s newest exhibit, \u003Cem\u003EBark Rhythms: Contemporary Innovations and Ancestral Traditions. \u003C\/em\u003EThis exhibit features artists from around the world who are practicing and innovating in the historic traditions of making bark paper and barkcloth. The talk features artists Sheila Nakitende and Tedi Permadi.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ESheila Nakitende will join us from Uganda. She is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Uganda Kampala. She graduated with a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Industrial Fine Art and Design from Makerere University in 2005.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ENakitende experimented with painting before exploring installation, performance and sculpture. Her artistic experience ranges from concept development, product and graphics design to gallery curatorial practice, coordinating arts projects, participating in local and international art workshops, residencies and exhibitions.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIndonesian artist Tedi Permadi is on the Teaching staff at the Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program, Faculty of Language and Literature Education, Indonesian Education University. He completed undergraduate educationin Regional Literature at the Faculty of Letters, Padjadjaran University; \u0026nbsp;and has a Masters in Literature, Major Studies in Philology at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Padjadjaran University; and a PhD in Literature, Major Studies in Philology at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Padjadjaran University. Permadi actively conducts research and service in the fields of manuscripts, preservation and conservation of written traditions, and revitalization of oral traditions. In addition, he was certified as a Pratama Cultural Heritage Expert for 2019-2022 and a Pratama Oral Tradition Preservation Worker for 2022-2025.
