Greg has done a tremendous job steering the School as chair, and I have appreciated his commitment throughout his service.\u201d\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EMeet Jean Lynch-Stieglitz\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ELynch-Stieglitz joined Georgia Tech\u2019s School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences as an associate professor in 2004. She served as the Schools\u2019 associate chair from 2015-22 and as an \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/cos.gatech.edu\/news\/georgia-techs-newest-advance-professor-jean-lynch-stieglitz\u0022\u003EADVANCE Professor for the College of Sciences\u003C\/a\u003E from 2022-23. She is currently serving as a \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/cos.gatech.edu\/news\/jean-lynch-stieglitz-receives-jefferson-science-fellowship\u0022\u003EJefferson Science Fellow at the Department of State\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHer research centers on changes in ocean circulation and climate since the height of the last ice age. Work in this area has helped in understanding the full range of behavior possible for the ocean\/climate system, and which parts of this system may be vulnerable to change in the future. Her research combines geochemical methods for gathering data on the state of the past ocean with the analytical tools and approaches of modern oceanography.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ELynch-Stieglitz currently serves on the Board of Reviewing Editors at \u003Cem\u003EScience Magazine\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;and was editor of \u003Cem\u003EEarth and Planetary Science Letters\u003C\/em\u003E from 2012-2015. She was elected a Fellow of the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.aaas.org\/\u0022\u003EAmerican Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)\u003C\/a\u003E in 2015 and a Fellow of the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.agu.org\/\u0022\u003EAmerican Geophysical Union (AGU)\u003C\/a\u003E in 2019 in recognition of her work on ocean circulation changes over the transition out of the last ice age. She was also named Cesare Emiliani Lecturer by AGU in 2018, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of paleoceanography.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EShe received a Bachelor of Science in Geology and in Physics from Duke University and a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from Columbia University.
