Abstract

Tracking women’s health from an early age is vital for the prevention and early discovery of breast, ovarian and cervical cancer. While several applications allow users to monitor various health factors or join support communities, a comprehensive solution that holistically tracks health with the aim of decreasing the risk of breast cancer remains unknown. To bridge this gap, I conducted an analysis of current health lifestyle practices, perceptions of existing apps, and information needs related to breast cancer through a survey of 116 participants. The outcome of this user-centered research and design process is M-AI, an AI-enabled mobile health application that tracks dietary habits, physical activities, menstrual cycles, and provides education on women’s health. Its aim is to elicit behavioral changes and motivate individuals to adopt preventative lifestyle choices that mitigate the risk of breast cancer. This work introduces a scalable, evidence-based tool that empowers women to proactively manage and change the trajectory of their health. It provides a UX/UI design direction for AI systems and underscores future research directions. This study can foster innovative approaches for preventative healthcare, heighten awareness of breast cancer risk factors, and validate the need for preventative tools in women’s health.
