Current AI literacy initiatives, however, focus mainly on teaching how such systems work and on encouraging children to become future technology developers and engineers.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThrough her project on \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/interact.oulu.fi\/paiz\u0022\u003EParticipatory AI with School Children\u003C\/a\u003E (PAIZ), \u003Cstrong\u003ESumita Sharma\u003C\/strong\u003E, postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oulu, Finland, encourages children to develop a critical mindset towards technology use and design, employing design futuring approaches. She has conducted workshops on ethical AI with young children (ages 10-12 years) in Finland, India, and Japan, and\u2014with collaborators\u2014also in the United States.
