{"673262":{"#nid":"673262","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Library partners with Scheller for Proactive Course Reserves Pilot","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EThis spring, the Georgia Tech Library is partnering with the Scheller College of Business for a \u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EProactive Course Reserves \u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003Epilot program aimed at making education more affordable for students. \u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EAs part of the exciting new initiative, librarians will review fall 2023 Scheller courses to discover if it is possible to purchase materials to support high expense and high-enrollment classes. \u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u201cWhat sets this effort apart is that our librarians will reach out to faculty about the potential cost-saving purchases,\u201d said John Mack Freeman, Head of Public Services Librarian. \u201cThis moves past our current passive model where faculty recommend purchases for us.\u201d \u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EDean Dr. Leslie Sharp \u003C\/span\u003Esaid the Library is especially excited about the pilot program because it truly helps everyone in the course. \u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u201c\u003Cspan\u003EThe Georgia Tech Library is committed to helping students meet their academic goals, and reducing the cost of a class is a part of that,\u201d said Sharp. \u201cWe are not waiting on the sidelines\u0026nbsp;for someone to ask what needs to be done.
