<p><span lang="EN-US"><span>Introducing </span><a href="https://www.isye.gatech.edu/users/katundu-imasiku"><span>Dr. </span><span>Katundu</span></a><span><a href="https://www.isye.gatech.edu/users/katundu-imasiku"> Imasiku</a>, a</span><span>n</span><span> </span><span>expert in renewable energy and engineering, joining the </span><span>ISyE</span><span> </span><span>team </span><span>at Georgia Tech. With a Ph.D. in Renewable Energy and a wealth of experience in </span><span>renewable energy and </span><span>climate science, </span><span>Imasiku </span><span>brings invaluable insights to the forefront of net zero freight systems research at Georgia Tech</span><span>.</span></span><span> </span></p>

<p><strong lang="EN-US"><span>Q: Where did you study, or what do you specialize in?</span></strong><span>&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span lang="EN-US"><span>A:</span><span> I hold several certifications in Micro-Grid and Smart Grids, Solar Systems, Arc GIS, </span><span>OnSSET</span><span>, Power Factory and Risk Management.</span></span><span> </span></p>
</div>

<p><span lang="EN-US"><span>With a </span><span>Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical</span><span> </span><span>/ Electronics, </span><span>from the </span><span>Copperbelt </span><span>U</span><span>niversity in Zambia, 2001</span><span>. Additionally, </span><span>he’s</span><span> obtained a </span><span>master's degree in business administration</span><span> at Business School Netherlands</span><span>, </span><span>in </span><span>the </span><span>Netherlands, 2017</span><span>; followed by a </span><span>Ph.D. in Renewable Energy, University of Rwanda, 2020</span><span>.</span></span><span> </span></p>

<p><strong lang="EN-US"><span>Q: What sparked your interest in engineering (and your research), and how did you decide to pursue it as a career?&nbsp;</span></strong><span>&nbsp;</span></p>
</div>

<p><span lang="EN-US"><span>A: </span><span>I wanted to be part of the Net Zero Freight Systems Program and contribute to the development of sustainable pathways for a resilient freight system with reduced greenhouse gas emissions and lower environmental impacts and mitigate climate change for greater societal benefits in USA and the World at large.</span></span><span> </span></p>

<p><strong lang="EN-US"><span>Q: Outside of work, what hobbies or activities do you enjoy that might influence or complement your approach to life?</span></strong><span>&nbsp;</span></p>
