The establishment of the PRC was led by \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/ece.gatech.edu\/directory\/rao-r-tummala\u0022\u003ERao Tummala\u003C\/a\u003E, the namesake of the Electronics Packaging Technology Award, and also professor emeritus in ECE. Swaminathan played a pivotal role in the advancement of the PRC while at Georgia Tech.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EThe award is one of \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/corporate-awards.ieee.org\/recipients\/current-recipients\/#1687264835238-5d20e2c1-b74d\u0022\u003EIEEE\u2019s Technical Field Awards\u003C\/a\u003E (TFAs) which represents the highest award given by each IEEE Society, bestowed for\u0026nbsp;contributions or leadership in specific fields of interest of IEEE.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EThe distinguished award, sponsored by the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/eps.ieee.org\/\u0022\u003EIEEE Electronics Packaging Society\u003C\/a\u003E and Friends of Rao R. Leonhard Endowed Chair. He also serves as the director of the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.chimes.psu.edu\/\u0022\u003ECenter for Heterogeneous Integration of Micro Electronic Systems\u003C\/a\u003E (CHIMES), supported through Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC)\u2019s Joint University Microelectronics Program 2.0 (JUMP 2.0).\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003ETummala was the Joseph M. Pettit Chair in Electronics Packaging in ECE from 1993 to 2019. As the founding director of PRC, he pioneered the Second Law of Electronics, propelling the industry forward with his visionary System-On-Package (SOP) concept.
