Center) is hosting its second annual W.E. Welcome You event on August 23 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the lawn between Stamps Health Services and the Campus Recreation Center. Students will be able to participate in games, enjoy delicious snacks, and walk away with some FREE swag. \u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EThe event also provides an opportunity for students to engage with W.E. Center staff and learn more about the department\u2019s programs, services, and resources, which are designed to promote student success both in and out of the classroom. The W.E. Center\u2019s mission supports the goals of \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/students.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003EStudent Engagement and Well-Being\u003C\/a\u003E in empowering students to support their own well-being across all eight dimensions of wellness: environmental, emotional, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual. \u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u201cWe are so excited to welcome students back to campus, meet new students for the first time, and empower them to prioritize and grow in their wellness journey,\u201d said Joi Alexander, director of the W.E. Center.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EAlong with all the activities, giveaways, and free food, students will learn about the pillars of the department, which include Community Nutrition and Body Image, Health Education, and VOICE. The pillars, as well as the services and programs that they offer, \u003Ca\u003Efocus on a holistic approach to wellness as part of their \u003C\/a\u003Eefforts to promote, nurture, and enrich the Georgia Tech community in the areas of health and well-being.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u201cThis event is going to be a ton of fun, but we\u2019re also aiming to educate students and excite them about the ways they can be proactive when it comes to their health and wellness,\u201d said Jess Ponder, a health educator for the W.E. Center. \u201cWe want them to have a good time, but we also want them to leave this event with all the knowledge and tools they need to develop and maintain their personal well-being.\u201d\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003ENo registration is required for the event; students are encouraged to show up when they can and bring their friends along.
