Like any good community that means we work together to solve problems and provide opportunities to enhance everyone who is a part of it. Students will learn how they can connect with alumni to enhance their educational path by finding a mentor or job shadowing. The Alumni Association also provides valuable leadership development opportunities through volunteering that build the executive functioning skills needed to succeed post-graduation. Those opportunities to network, connect, learn, and engage don\u2019t stop at graduation \u2013 we offer experiences for our alumni to continue to learn, grow, and give back. Learn how staying connected as an alumnus or alumna can help you find your next job, upskill to get ahead, and make lifelong connections. In this position, he works alongside the association staff, board of trustee members, and alumni volunteers to champion and serve all alumni and the Institute.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EPrior to his current role, Sheheane served as Vice President of Government and Community Relations at the Georgia Institute of Technology beginning in 2014.\u0026nbsp; In this role, he oversaw the Institute\u2019s coordinated approach for developing and maintaining strong local, state, and federal relations through a team that serves as the \u201cfront door\u201d for Georgia Tech to government and community stakeholders.\u0026nbsp; Sheheane served as the primary representative of the Institute to government officials and was a principal advisor to the president and served as a member of his cabinet.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EAn alumnus of Georgia Tech, Sheheane returned to lead the government relations unit in 2007 after 13 years at Georgia State University where he was Associate Vice President for External Affairs.\u0026nbsp; While at Georgia State, he was involved in all facets of external affairs and managed the university\u2019s state relations.\u0026nbsp; Sheheane\u2019s more than 25-year career in government relations began in 1990 working in the administration of Georgia Governor Joe Frank Harris followed by a term with the administration of Governor Zell Miller.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003E\u003Cspan\u003EA native Georgian, Sheheane holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Georgia Tech and a Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University.\u0026nbsp; He is currently serving a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the Council of Alumni Association Executives.\u0026nbsp; He is a former chairman of the National Higher Education Government Relations Task Force and was selected as the 2017 recipient of the Marvin D. \u201cSwede\u201d Johnson Achievement Award in state government relations for higher education.
