{"665918":{"#nid":"665918","#data":{"type":"event","title":"Inclusive STEM Teaching Fellow Program Application Deadline","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EThe\u0026nbsp;Inclusive\u0026nbsp;STEM\u0026nbsp;Teaching\u0026nbsp;Fellows program is designed to advance the awareness, self-efficacy, and ability of\u0026nbsp;STEM\u0026nbsp;instructors to cultivate\u0026nbsp;inclusive\u0026nbsp;learning environments for all their students and to develop themselves as reflective,\u0026nbsp;inclusive\u0026nbsp;practitioners.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe\u0026nbsp;institute\u0026nbsp;will cover the following themes designed to help instructors construct classroom environments that support the complexities that contribute to student persistence:\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cul\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ESocial identity and its impact on learning\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EPower, positionality, and privilege\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EInclusive\u0026nbsp;course design\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EInterruption of oppression and microaggressions\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\t\u003Cli\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EEvidence-based\u0026nbsp;teaching\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/li\u003E\r\n\u003C\/ul\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003EFormat\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EParticipants will enroll in the self-paced\u0026nbsp;Inclusive\u0026nbsp;STEM\u0026nbsp;Teaching\u0026nbsp;Project online course (March 6 \u0026ndash; April 28) and culminate the experience with an in-person\u0026nbsp;institute\u0026nbsp;designed for deep engagement around diversity, equity, and inclusion in learning and\u0026nbsp;teaching, instructor identity and authority, student identities and experiences, creating\u0026nbsp;inclusive\u0026nbsp;courses, and fostering an\u0026nbsp;inclusive\u0026nbsp;classroom climate. The\u0026nbsp;institute\u0026nbsp;will be held from 9 am \u0026ndash; 2 pm on May 10 and 11, 2023, at an on-campus venue.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003EStipends and Commitments\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003ESelected\u0026nbsp;participants will receive\u0026nbsp;$1000 in funds to be used for professional activities related to DEI initiatives.\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EParticipants commit to completing the\u0026nbsp;Inclusive\u0026nbsp;STEM\u0026nbsp;Teaching\u0026nbsp;Project online course including weekly virtual check-ins with GT coordinators and attending the\u0026nbsp;Inclusive\u0026nbsp;STEM\u0026nbsp;Teaching\u0026nbsp;Institute\u0026nbsp;on May 10\u0026nbsp;and 11, 2023.
