"Development of Microscale System for Characterization of Shear-induced Thrombosis"

Fluid shear is a well-known cause for platelet induced thrombosis, a leading cause of strokes and heart attacks.  In order to characterize this behavior, we are developing a novel in-vitro system towards the compact, scalable formation and characterization of platelet aggregates.

"Quantitative Analysis of Patient Variability in Macrophage and Osteoclast Differentiation"

Monocytes differentiate into macrophages and osteoclasts, cells that produce powerful cysteine protease enzyme cathepsins implicated in a number of healthy and pathological remodeling of tissues. In order to use  monocytes for cell-based therapy, we need to understand and direct their differentiation process. Here we present a systems biology approach to elucidate the complex processes of monocyte differentiation and predict cell fate.
