{"659921":{"#nid":"659921","#data":{"type":"event","title":"Exhibit Reception: A Community of Artists","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EJoin us for the opening reception for our new changing exhibition\u003Cstrong\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003Cem\u003EA Community of Artists: African American Works on Paper from the Cochran Collection\u003C\/em\u003E, which\u0026nbsp;showcases fifty noted 20th century American artists. Collected and curated by Wes and Missy Cochran, the Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking chose a selection from the larger collection that not only tells the story of 20th century art in America but highlights the contributions of Georgia\u0026rsquo;s artists to this larger story. The show also illuminates the roles of female artists and Black master printers in creating a cross-generational commentary on artistic freedom, activism, and community. Whether intentionally or coincidentally, the lives and voices of the featured artists intersect to create a lively dialogue that remains relevant to today\u0026rsquo;s audiences. The exhibition is on view from August 5 - December 2, 2022.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EAn in-person artist talk is scheduled for the evening of the opening reception from 7:00pm - 8:00pm featuring four artists whose work is in the show,\u0026nbsp;Tina Dunkley,\u0026nbsp;Jim Alexander, Kevin Cole, and\u0026nbsp;Radcliffe Bailey.\u0026nbsp; In addition to the opening reception there will be several virtual lectures (\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/virtual-lecture-black-master-printers-and-their-impact-tickets-391350699477\u0022\u003ESept 6\u003C\/a\u003E,\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/paper.gatech.edu\/virtual-lecture-power-womens-voice\u0022\u003ESept 20\u003C\/a\u003E, \u0026amp;\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/virtual-lecture-telling-the-broader-story-of-art-history-tickets-391359235007\u0022\u003ENov 1\u003C\/a\u003E, 7p EST) and an\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/epay.gatech.edu\/C20793_ustores\/web\/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCTID=5446\u0022\u003Ein-person workshop\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/a\u003E(Nov 15, 7pm EST) to round out the programming.
