Refreshments will be served at 3:30.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe talk is appropriate for people of all ages and backgrounds.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch5\u003EJuggling Numbers, Algebra, and Topology\u003C\/h5\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOne goal of mathematics is to describe the patterns in the\u0026nbsp;world, from\u0026nbsp;weather to population growth to disease\u0026nbsp;transmission. We will use mathematics to describe juggling\u0026nbsp;patterns, count the different kinds of patterns, and create new\u0026nbsp;patterns. We will make surprising connections to group theory,\u0026nbsp;topology, combinatorics, and number theory.
