{"659232":{"#nid":"659232","#data":{"type":"news","title":"Two IAC Students Chosen for 2022 BBISS Graduate Fellows Program","body":[{"value":"\u003Cp\u003EOliver Chapman, a Ph.D. student in the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/spp.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ESchool of Public Policy\u003C\/a\u003E, and\u0026nbsp;Olanike Olaomo, a Ph.D. student in the \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hsoc.gatech.edu\/\u0022\u003ESchool of History and Sociology\u003C\/a\u003E, were among six Georgia Tech graduate students chosen for the 2022 cohort of Brook Byers Institute for Sustainable Systems (BBISS) Graduate Fellows.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe BBISS Graduate Fellows Program provides graduate students with enhanced training in sustainability, team science, and leadership in addition to their usual programs of study.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EOver the next two years, Chapman and Olaomo will work closely with their faculty advisors Professor \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/iac.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/marilyn-a-brown\u0022\u003EMarilyn Brown\u003C\/a\u003E and Assistant Professor \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hsoc.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/kate-pride-brown\u0022\u003EKate Pride Brown\u003C\/a\u003E, respectively, on interdisciplinary sustainability topics. Chapman focuses on policy analysis, social science, and STEM academics, while Olaomo\u0026#39;s\u0026nbsp;research interests are in sustainable agriculture and rural sociology, which she studies in the developing world, specifically in her home country of Nigeria.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EEach two-year fellowship is funded by a generous gift from Brook and Shawn Byers and is additionally guided by a Faculty Advisory Board. The students apply their skills and talents, working directly with their peers, faculty, and external partners on long-term, large team, sustainability relevant projects.
