I\u0026rsquo;m a first-generation college student. My family greatly encouraged me to take advantage of the value and opportunities in higher education.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat do you enjoy\u0026nbsp;most\u0026nbsp;about your work? \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI very much enjoy and appreciate the creativity and autonomy that teaching in higher education allows. From choosing materials to designing lessons, I strive to create lectures and assignments that are engaging and full of different ways for students to learn.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhy did you decide to teach at Georgia Tech, and what\u0026#39;s the best part about working here? \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EA colleague (and friend) of mine encouraged me to apply when there was an opening! She said the work environment and the students were beyond compare, and she wasn\u0026rsquo;t mistaken. Both are wonderful! The students are absolutely the best part about working here.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat moment in Modern Languages\/at Georgia Tech stands out as the most memorable? \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EThe most memorable is probably the first year of the Seville, Spain, study abroad program. It\u0026rsquo;s a joy for me to share with my students a place that is so near and dear to my heart, and the first time doing so is something I\u0026rsquo;ll never forget.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhat\u0026#39;s your favorite course to teach and why? \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESpanish TV Series is probably my favorite to date. It\u0026rsquo;s fun to teach because it has a little bit of everything \u0026mdash; history, romance, mystery, adventure, foreign settings, and complex characters. Watching the students get excited about the story and all the history that goes with it is a real treat for me.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EDo you have any advice for Modern Languages students at Georgia Tech? \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ETravel now. Travel the world. So many people wait to travel and then it never happens. Make it a part of your life!\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EWhen you\u0026#39;re not working, what do you like to do? \u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EI take a lot of long walks with my canine companion. I also like to frequent coffee shops with my husband, go to concerts and the symphony, and travel internationally.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EIf you weren\u0026#39;t doing this, what would you be doing?\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003ESomething with animals, I\u0026rsquo;m sure.
