  <title><![CDATA[Sci Fi Lab Research Fellows Appear on Horror Podcast]]></title>
  <body><![CDATA[<p>Four Georgia Tech undergraduate students and research fellows in the&nbsp;<a href="https://scifi.lmc.gatech.edu/" target="_blank">Sci Fi Lab</a> recently appeared as guest experts on the award-winning horror podcast, <a href="https://www.theouterdark.org/outer-dark-podcast"><em>The Outer Dark</em></a>.</p>

<p>Olivia Kiklica, Jessica Taetle, Josie Benner, and Edeliz Zuleta appeared on <a href="https://www.thisishorror.co.uk/tod-110-the-sf-future-is-female-the-1970s/">the February episode</a>. Kiklica and Taetle are computational media majors. Benner and Zuleta&nbsp;are majoring in biomedical engineering with a minor in <a href="https://www.lmc.gatech.edu/programs/minors/science-fiction-studies">science fiction studies</a>.</p>

<p><a href="https://iac.gatech.edu/people/person/lisa-yaszek" target="_blank">Lisa Yaszek</a>, Regents Professor of Science Fiction Studies in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication, moderated the podcast.</p>

<p>In the episode, titled &quot;The [SF] Future is Female!: The 1970s,&quot; the students shared their experiences researching science fiction for Yaszek&#39;s forthcoming anthology,<em> The Future is Female! Vol 2: The 1970s. </em>The group discussed what they learned about feminism through their readings of women speculative fiction writers in the 1970s, how the works relate to and anticipate today&rsquo;s science fiction, gender issues &mdash; including trans identities, and contemporary and future Earth society.</p>

The <a href="https://www.lmc.gatech.edu/programs/minors/science-fiction-studies">Science Fiction Studies (SFS) minor</a> is for students who are interested in learning how people communicate the experience of science and technology across centuries, continents, and cultures.&nbsp;The&nbsp;</em><a href="https://scifi.lmc.gatech.edu/" target="_blank"><em>Sci Fi Lab</em></a><em>&nbsp;is a unit in the&nbsp;</em><a href="https://www.lmc.gatech.edu/"><em>School of Literature, Media, and Communication</em></a><em>&nbsp;(LMC) and is led by Yaszek.</em></p>
