It is given annually in memory of the late professor\u0026nbsp;Bernard P. Bellon to recognize HTS students who have distinguished themselves in the areas of academic achievement, leadership, research, and personal integrity. This award comes with a $1,000 prize.\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003EYihua Xu\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003E\u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hsoc.gatech.edu\/news\/item\/651269\/undergraduate-meet-hsoc-fourth-year-yihua\u0022\u003EYihua Xu\u003C\/a\u003E was nominated by \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hsoc.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/allen-hyde\u0022\u003EAssistant Professor Allen Hyde\u003C\/a\u003E.\u0026nbsp;The School of History and Sociology Undergraduate Committee\u0026nbsp;writes:\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cblockquote\u003E\r\n\u003Cp\u003EYihua\u0026#39;s unique interdisciplinary training and research experiences that blend both applied and computational mathematics alongside extensive research in quantitative social science, especially in areas of inequality and justice, certainly set him apart from other students. His leadership as an educator in a wide range of courses and participation as an IAC Student Ambassador demonstrate his commitment as a leader. Finally, his academic success as a double major in HTS and Mathematics, as well as a minor in Computational Data Analysis, is impressive and extraordinary. This award comes with a $250 prize.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/p\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Ch3\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\r\nHaley Theis\u003C\/h3\u003E\r\n\r\n\u003Cp\u003EHaley was nominated by \u003Ca href=\u0022https:\/\/hsoc.gatech.edu\/people\/person\/kelley-fong\u0022\u003EAssistant Professor Kelley Fong\u003C\/a\u003E for her research paper\u0026nbsp;\u003Cem\u003EThe Well-Being of Children: A Rural Community\u0026#39;s Perspective,\u003C\/em\u003E\u0026nbsp;written in the Seminar in Sociology and Welfare Policy.
